Mine went out at the end of April which is pretty early in the Boston area. I live just north of the city.Daphnehttp://daphnesdandelions.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290506567747688131.post-8438905169745936102009-05-27T08:49:39.801-04:002009-05-27T08:49:39.801-04:00Dan, you might be able to take Archimedes's advice...Dan, you might be able to take Archimedes's advice and plant the stems deeper. Good luck--looking forward to pics of all those varieties you planted.Sallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16533917819185792443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290506567747688131.post-81894643165357113532009-05-25T22:23:45.756-04:002009-05-25T22:23:45.756-04:00The dozen tomatoes I planted on May 9 seem to be d...The dozen tomatoes I planted on May 9 seem to be doing okay despite have a few nights in the mid-thirties since then and a lot of nights in the forties; I held back another dozen or so and planted them a few days ago. We'll see if they catch up. But I never worry about tomatoes growing leggy--the best way to plant tomatoes is to dig a deep hole and put the stem underground. Often I remove the bottom two leaf fronds so that I can get more stem in touch with the soil. Tomatoes grow roots from their stems wherever the stems touch soil. Don't try this with other plants, such as peppers or eggplants, however--most plants will not grow roots out of their stems.Archimedesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290506567747688131.post-67139850110246296962009-05-22T22:10:50.851-04:002009-05-22T22:10:50.851-04:00Your tomatoes are looking very nice. You would think I would know better after growing tomatoes for 6 years now...Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07743102355360873845noreply@blogger.com
