The thing is, putting down grass creates jobs, doesn't it. They're just trying to make political hay (get it?)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290506567747688131.post-73085641403729753712009-01-26T22:25:00.000-05:002009-01-26T22:25:00.000-05:00The Republicans are complaining that part of Obama...The Republicans are complaining that part of Obama's Recovery Plan includes re-seeding the National Mall!

But on your other point, a White House Victory Garden--probably call it a Recovery Garden--would be terrific. I am old enough to remember when, during World War II, my father dug up our back yard and planted a huge garden. I think it was the first he had ever had. I know that he made vegetable gardens part of his life thereafter and was certainly the better for it. I started gardening when I was about the age he was during World War II, but I did it because I had taken up cooking. Now I don't cook, but I still devote a lot of time each year to my vegetable garden.
So I think it would help everyone if the Obama's started a Recovery Garden.Bryan Bunchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05386062947268772223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290506567747688131.post-8669684177403800622009-01-25T22:50:00.000-05:002009-01-25T22:50:00.000-05:00What a great experience to have. Of course they would not handle foot traffic at all so maybe not such a good idea.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07743102355360873845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290506567747688131.post-24888568246387564762009-01-25T19:40:00.000-05:002009-01-25T19:40:00.000-05:00Ya know, I saw the trash left behind after the cel...Ya know, I saw the trash left behind after the celebration, too, although only on tv.

I was saddened that Americans attending a life changing event would act in ways exactly the opposite of what I had hoped.

A shortage of trash receptacles was only part of the problem - as you point out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
